Library Policies
1. Every patron needs a library card. A card with the patron's name and
assigned number will be issued upon request and renewed upon expiration.
2. First-time applicants must furnish a photo I.D. and social security number
with a reference.
3. Children applying for a card must have a parent's signature. Children must
be able to print their first and last names on the application.
4. There is a two-day waiting period for a card. The librarian on duty his the
right to limit materials.
5. Patrons must present their card when checking out materials. Materials will
not be checked out without a card.
6. A charge of $1.00 will be made for replacing a lost library card. Please
notify the librarian if you lose your card.
7. All fines must be paid and/or overdue materials returned before a
replacement card may be issued.
8. Information on fines, overdue material, and items checked out can be
furnished to the patron upon his or her request.

Renewing
An Item
1. Renew by telephone or in person.
2. If an item is on reserve, it is not renewable.
3. Items that are overdue may be renewed, but the
fine will be applied to your card.
4. Art prints, 1-week loans, and reference materials are not
renewable.
Reserving
An Item
1. Materials not immediately available may be reserved at the circulation
desk.
2. Patron will be called when item is available. Item must
be picked up within 48 hours.
After-Hours
Returns
A book deposit return is located on the east side of the library.
Items returned after the library has closed will be checked in the next
working day.
Fines will be recorded on your account.
Overdue Materials, Fines & Payments
Over due fines are as follows:
Regular items: 10 cents per
day per item.
Reference, one-week and two-day items: 25 cents per day per item.
Videocassettes: $ 1.00 per day per item.
Please remember that fines are figured on a per day and per item basis.
Fines on regular items can accumulate to $2.50 per item.
Video fines accumulate to $10.00 per item.
If a library patron has a fine or overdue materials, the privilege of checking out materials is withheld until the fine is
paid and materials are returned.
Patrons are responsible for paying the cost of any lost or damaged items.
If an item is lost, the replacement cost plus processing charges must be paid.

Regional Library Assistance
SILO Access
1. Patrons may request a book not available by filling out a request form.
2. Patrons may use SILO
(required password available from the circulation desk) to determine which libraries have the books. Books
with a copyright of the current year may not be borrowed or requested.
3. A 50 cent fee per item requested is required.
4. Patrons will be called when items arrive at the library.
5. Interlibrary loan items may not be renewed.

Patrons may use their own local library card at any participating library in
the state of Iowa.
